Brian, unlike other dogs, can speak. Brian is the brain of the family ever since he joined it many years ago after Peter invited him to dinner. Brian is a "womanizer" and usually dates young, "bimbos". Brian has a slight drinking problem and is sometimes insecure but he is always there for Peter when he gets into trouble. In some episodes, Brian also seems to have a little crush on Lois Griffin, Peter's wife.
